THE SONG OF THE MOCKINGBIRD

THE SONG OF THE MOCKINGBIRD

HOW CAN JACK MCNAMARA  OVERCOME HIS WRITER’S BLOCK AND HIS LIFE’S PATH THAT PARALLELS HEMINGWAY’S.  HIS FATHER SCORNED HIM FOR WANTING TO WRITE AND TOLD HIM FROM DAY ONE HE WOULD END UP JUST LIKE HEMINGWAY – AS HE SEES HIS LIFE SPIRALING IN THAT DIRECTION, HE SEEKS HELP AND CONFRONTS HIS PAST SO HE CAN FREE HIMSELF AND MOVE ON.  A GOOD STORY THAT WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO READ MORE IN THE SERIES!

PUBLISHER’S NOTE:

Reynolds and Ryan Publishing paid best-selling author, Jack McNamara, more than a million dollars in advanced royalties for three action-adventure novels. Only one problem: Jack cannot write a single word. Devastatingly depressed and hopelessly blocked Jack embarks on a personal journey back to the summer of 1961 when three childhood events created a psychological time-bomb that, thirty-five years later, threatened to destroy his marriage and end his writing career.

Vibrant characters, settings like Charleston, Savannah and Key West and a tightly wound plot make this novel a “must read.” The Song of the Mockingbird is Bill Cronin’s second novel following five-star reviews for his first novel “Dial Tone.”

PUBLISHER’S EXCERPT:

Throughout her blockbuster career, #1 New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult has seamlessly blended nuanced characters, riveting plots, and rich prose, brilliantly creating stories that “not only provoke the mind but touch the flawed souls in all of us” (The Boston Globe). Now, in her highly anticipated new novel, she has delivered her most affecting work yet—a book unlike anything she’s written before.

For more than a decade, Jenna Metcalf has never stopped thinking about her mother, Alice, who mysteriously disappeared in the wake of a tragic accident. Refusing to believe she was abandoned, Jenna searches for her mother regularly online and pores over the pages of Alice’s old journals. A scientist who studied grief among elephants, Alice wrote mostly of her research among the animals she loved, yet Jenna hopes the entries will provide a clue to her mother’s whereabouts.

Desperate to find the truth, Jenna enlists two unlikely allies in her quest: Serenity Jones, a psychic who rose to fame finding missing persons, only to later doubt her gifts, and Virgil Stanhope, the jaded private detective who’d originally investigated Alice’s case along with the strange, possibly linked death of one of her colleagues. As the three work together to uncover what happened to Alice, they realize that in asking hard questions, they’ll have to face even harder answers.

As Jenna’s memories dovetail with the events in her mother’s journals, the story races to a mesmerizing finish. A deeply moving, gripping, and intelligent page-turner, Leaving Time is Jodi Picoult at the height of her powers.

MAYBE, A LITTLE ZEN FOR LITTLE ONES

MAYBE

JUST READ THIS SWEET LITTLE STORY ON A WHIM.  IT WAS A FREE KINDLE BOOK AND THE PICTURES ACTUALLY CAME UP ON THE KINDLE AND IF THE TEXT WAS TOO SMALL YOU COULD DOUBLE CLICK ON THE AREA TO ENLARGE IT WHICH MADE THE READING EXPERIENCE SO MUCH BETTER!

THE STORY IS GREAT FOR THE YOUNG SCHOOL-AGE CHILD TO MAKE THEM THINK A LITTLE MORE DEEPLY ABOUT THEIR LIFE EXPERIENCES.

THE REAL PICTURE BOOK, OF COURSE, WOULD BE IDEAL ESPECIALLY FOR TEACHERS AND READ-ALOUDS!

THE PUBLISHER’S NOTES SAY IT ALL:

Based on an ancient and beloved Zen fable, this story is about a wise girl who experiences a series of events that at first seem lucky (or unlucky) but then turn out to be quite the opposite. A bike disappears, but then she gets a new one. She hurts herself, but then she enjoys a nice day at home. For each incident, was what happened good luck? Maybe. Was it bad luck? Maybe. Or, perhaps the girl simply does not get caught up in the emotion of the moment, because she can never know what that event might lead to, good or bad . . .

Amelia has been suspended for cheating, something that would be completely out of character for her over-achieving, well-behaved daughter.Kate rushes to Grace Hall, but what she finds when she finally arrives is beyond comprehension. Her daughter Amelia is dead.Despondent over having been caught cheating, Amelia has jumped from the school’s roof in an act of impulsive suicide. At least that’s the story Grace Hall and the police tell Kate. In a state of shock and overcome by grief, Kate tries to come to grips with this life-shattering news. Then she gets an anonymous text:Amelia didn’t jump. The moment she sees that message, Kate knows in her heart it’s true. Clearly Amelia had secrets, and a life Kate knew nothing about.
