HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS LOW CARB COOKING GIVES A NICE OVERVIEW IN THE BEGINNING ABOUT WHY YOU MAY WANT TO TRY LOW CARB COOKING AND SUPPLIES AN EATING PLAN WHICH IS ALL SIMPLY PUT AND IN EASY TERMS TO UNDERSTAND (NOT TOO TECHNICAL).
THERE WERE MANY RECIPES I WOULD LIKE TO TRY IN THIS COOKBOOK.
THE APPETIZERS DIDN’T DO A LOT FOR ME BUT I FOUND SOME CREATIVE SALAD IDEAS LIKE:
STIR FRIED BEEF AND APPLE SALAD
WARM FRAJITA SALAD
AND WHAT ABOUT YAM-PEANUT SOUP – THEY COOK IT ON THE STOVE AND BLEND IT BUT I WOULD PROBABLY USE THE SLOW COOKER AND LEAVE MINE CHUNKY SINCE THE YAMS TEND TO MUSH WELL JUST IN STIRRING
THERE WERE LOADS OF EGG AND CHEESE RECIPES BUT I TEND TO USE MY LEFTOVERS WITH MY EGGS AND CHEESE – WHATEVER FRESH VEGGIES NEED TO BE USED OR LEFTOVERS GO IN. I ESPECIALLY LOVE SPINACH, MUSHROOMS, PEPPER AND ONIONS, AS WELL AS FETA IN MY OMELETS. I THINK I WILL TRY:
EGG-VEGETABLE SALAD WRAPS
MANY OF THE BEEF AND PORK RECIPES SOUND INTERESTING BUT I AM NOT A FAN OF LAMB. CHECK OUT:
BEEF TENDERLOIN WITH PEPPER JELLY SAUCE – I HAVE TO LOOK FOR THIS JALEPENO CHILE PEPPER SAUCE IN THE GROCERY STORE
GRILLED BEEF FILLET WITH PORTOBELLO RELISH
GRILLED MANGO BERRY “CHALSA” WITH PORK – THE CHALSA CATCHES MY EYE TO USE OVER CHICKEN AND FISH TOO
PESTO STUFFED PORK CHOPS
THE CHICKEN AND TURKEY RECIPES GAVE ME SOME HERB RUB IDEAS AND SALSAS. I WILL TRY:
SPICY ORANGE CHICKEN
TURKEY TENDERLOIN WITH BEAN-AND-CORN SALSA – BUT I WILL USE MY OWN BLACK BEAN SALSA
TURKEY BREAST AND RASPBERRY SALSA
TURKEY STEAKS WITH SWEET PEPPER AND CITRUS SALSA
MEXICAN STYLE TURKEY SOUP – SOUND GOOD FOR THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS!
THE FISH AND SEAFOOD RECIPES LOOK VERY TEMPTING EXCEPT I WON’T WORRY TOO MUCH IF I’M USING RED SNAPPER ORANGE ROUGHY OR HALIBUT – I USE A LOT OF TILAPIA AND HADDOCK. I DO LIKE MANY OF THE SAUCES TO TRY TO FRESHEN MY FISH DISHES LIKE:
DILLED YOGURT SAUCE
THE CRAB CHOWDER LOOKS GOOD TOO!
I DON’T PARTICULARLY FOLLOW A LOW CARB DIET BUT I DID LIKE MANY OF THE RECIPES AND SAUCES TO TRY TO LIVEN UP MY CURRENT DISHES. SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I GET INTO A RUT IN COOKING – LOOK LIKE I’LL BE USING THIS COOKBOOK OFTEN! MAYBE YOU WILL TOO!
WHAT THE PUBLISHER SAYS:
Take a look in the mirror. Are you happy with what you see? Or are you a part of the nutritional statistic that estimates that 68.8 percent of American adults are overweight or obese.
Sadly, 16 percent of our children under age 19 are considered overweight. Many kids today are destined for a lifetime of struggling with their weight and serious health problems, including diabetes and heart disease.
There’s a lot of national debate about how so many of us got this way, but most experts agree we’re sitting at our desks or on the couch too much and not moving our bodies enough. And yes, there is just too much good food (and bad food) everywhere, including on our dinner plates.
This serious public health issue continues to build, and it is estimated that 73 percent of American adults will be overweight or obese. We are long overdue in reversing this trend!
So let me congratulate you on taking the first step in managing your weight with the purchase of this cookbook. I hope that this collection of recipes will help you make smart food choices every day. These low-carb recipes – from the Mediterranean Beef Kabobs to the Crab Chowder – taste really good, and I have trimmed fat and calories to make each recipe better for you and your family.
The benefits of smart eating and maintaining a healthy weight are tremendous – including that feel-good feeling every time you look in the mirror.
