HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS LOW CARB COOKING

HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS LOW CARB COOKING

HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS LOW CARB COOKING GIVES A NICE OVERVIEW IN THE BEGINNING ABOUT WHY YOU MAY WANT TO TRY LOW CARB COOKING AND SUPPLIES AN EATING PLAN WHICH IS ALL SIMPLY PUT AND IN EASY TERMS TO UNDERSTAND (NOT TOO TECHNICAL).

THERE WERE MANY RECIPES I WOULD LIKE TO TRY IN THIS COOKBOOK.

THE APPETIZERS DIDN’T DO A LOT FOR ME BUT I FOUND SOME CREATIVE SALAD IDEAS LIKE:
STIR FRIED BEEF AND APPLE SALAD
WARM FRAJITA SALAD

AND WHAT ABOUT YAM-PEANUT SOUP – THEY COOK IT ON THE STOVE AND BLEND IT BUT I WOULD PROBABLY USE THE SLOW COOKER AND LEAVE MINE CHUNKY SINCE THE YAMS TEND TO MUSH WELL JUST IN STIRRING

THERE WERE LOADS OF EGG AND CHEESE RECIPES BUT I TEND TO USE MY LEFTOVERS WITH MY EGGS AND CHEESE – WHATEVER FRESH VEGGIES NEED TO BE USED OR LEFTOVERS GO IN. I ESPECIALLY LOVE SPINACH, MUSHROOMS, PEPPER AND ONIONS, AS WELL AS FETA IN MY OMELETS. I THINK I WILL TRY:
EGG-VEGETABLE SALAD WRAPS

MANY OF THE BEEF AND PORK RECIPES SOUND INTERESTING BUT I AM NOT A FAN OF LAMB. CHECK OUT:
BEEF TENDERLOIN WITH PEPPER JELLY SAUCE – I HAVE TO LOOK FOR THIS JALEPENO CHILE PEPPER SAUCE IN THE GROCERY STORE
GRILLED BEEF FILLET WITH PORTOBELLO RELISH
GRILLED MANGO BERRY “CHALSA” WITH PORK – THE CHALSA CATCHES MY EYE TO USE OVER CHICKEN AND FISH TOO
PESTO STUFFED PORK CHOPS

THE CHICKEN AND TURKEY RECIPES GAVE ME SOME HERB RUB IDEAS AND SALSAS.  I WILL TRY:
SPICY ORANGE CHICKEN
TURKEY TENDERLOIN WITH BEAN-AND-CORN SALSA – BUT I WILL USE MY OWN BLACK BEAN SALSA
TURKEY BREAST AND RASPBERRY SALSA
TURKEY STEAKS WITH SWEET PEPPER AND CITRUS SALSA
MEXICAN STYLE TURKEY SOUP – SOUND GOOD FOR THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS!

THE FISH AND SEAFOOD RECIPES LOOK VERY TEMPTING EXCEPT I WON’T WORRY TOO MUCH IF I’M USING RED SNAPPER ORANGE ROUGHY OR HALIBUT – I USE A LOT OF TILAPIA AND HADDOCK. I DO LIKE MANY OF THE SAUCES TO TRY TO FRESHEN MY FISH DISHES LIKE:
DILLED YOGURT SAUCE
BLUEBERRY-PEPPER JAM
GRAPEFRUIT-ORANGE RELISH
TOMATO CHUTNEY

THE CRAB CHOWDER LOOKS GOOD TOO!

I DON’T PARTICULARLY FOLLOW A LOW CARB DIET BUT I DID LIKE MANY OF THE RECIPES AND SAUCES TO TRY TO LIVEN UP MY CURRENT DISHES. SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I GET INTO A RUT IN COOKING – LOOK LIKE I’LL BE USING THIS COOKBOOK OFTEN! MAYBE YOU WILL TOO!

WHAT THE PUBLISHER SAYS:

Take a look in the mirror. Are you happy with what you see? Or are you a part of the nutritional statistic that estimates that 68.8 percent of American adults are overweight or obese.

Sadly, 16 percent of our children under age 19 are considered overweight. Many kids today are destined for a lifetime of struggling with their weight and serious health problems, including diabetes and heart disease.

There’s a lot of national debate about how so many of us got this way, but most experts agree we’re sitting at our desks or on the couch too much and not moving our bodies enough. And yes, there is just too much good food (and bad food) everywhere, including on our dinner plates.

This serious public health issue continues to build, and it is estimated that 73 percent of American adults will be overweight or obese. We are long overdue in reversing this trend!

So let me congratulate you on taking the first step in managing your weight with the purchase of this cookbook. I hope that this collection of recipes will help you make smart food choices every day. These low-carb recipes – from the Mediterranean Beef Kabobs to the Crab Chowder – taste really good, and I have trimmed fat and calories to make each recipe better for you and your family.

The benefits of smart eating and maintaining a healthy weight are tremendous – including that feel-good feeling every time you look in the mirror.

The dean hates him.

Watch as Arthur and the dean engage in a angst filled battle to end (or save) his job. If you like social media, blogging, and mockery, you’ll enjoy Underwood, Scotch, and Wry.

THE CASE OF THE NOT SO FAIR TRADER

THE CASE OF THE NOT SO FAIR TRADER

THERE IS NO LOVE LOST WHEN ALVIN AUGUSTUS IS FOUND DEAD IN A PILE OF RUBBLE.  IT APPEARS THAT NO ONE IN THE FAMILY CARES THAT HE IS DEAD – THEY ONLY WANT THEIR SHARE OF HIS MONEY.  THE READING OF THE WILL AND THE RIDER PUT EVERYONE IN A DOWNWARD SPIRAL.  RICHARD SHERLOCK IS ABLE TO PIECE THE MURDER TOGETHER – A GOOD READ TO FIND OUT WHO CALCULATED THE DESPICABLE CRIME!

PUBLISHER’ EXCERPT:

Nothing makes sense. Crime scene is a mess. There is no money trail. There are too many motives from too many suspects who have too many alibis. Worst of all Sherlock’s bad back is acting up, his ex-wife wants more money and the murder investigation is putting a serious dent in his parenting schedule of his two daughters.
Richard Sherlock hates his job, and may be a reluctant dick, but he is better at finding the WHO in WHODUNIT than anyone else.

LARGER THAN LIFE

LARGER THAN LIFE

NOT USUALLY A FAN OF SHORT STORIES – THIS ONE WASN’T TOO SHORT AND REALLY TOLD A MAGNIFICENT STORY.  I NEVER EXPECTED JODI PICOULT TO WRITE ABOUT TRYING TO SAVE ELEPHANTS FROM THE IVORY TUSK TRADE OR LEARNING HOW “AN ELEPHANT NEVER FORGETS”.  PARALLELED WITH ALICE’S OWN BOND WITH HER MOTHER, THE STORY BECAME VERY TOUCHING.  REFRESHING TO GET AWAY FROM ALL THE MURDER MYSTERIES FOR A WHILE!  THIS ACTUALLY MADE ME PRE-ORDER JODI PICOULT’S LATEST NOVEL LEAVING TIME.

PUBLISHER’S EXCERPT:

A researcher studying memory in elephants, Alice is fascinated by the bonds between mother and calf—the mother’s powerful protective instincts and her newborn’s unwavering loyalty. Living on a game reserve in Botswana, Alice is able to view the animals in their natural habitat—while following an important rule: She must only observe and never interfere. Then she finds an orphaned young elephant in the bush and cannot bear to leave the helpless baby behind. Thinking back on her own childhood, and on her shifting relationship with her mother, Alice risks her career to care for the calf. Yet what she comes to understand is the depth of a parent’s love.

QUICK 5 INGREDIENT AND/OR 15 MINUTE MEAL RECIPES

5 INGREDIENT
I MUST SAY THAT I LIKED THE MAIN DISHES THE MOST BUT I FOUND A FEW APPETIZER RECIPES I MAY TRY.  THE BREAKFASTS, SALADS, SOUPS AND SANDWICHES JUST DIDN’T DO ANYTHING FOR ME.  THE DESSERTS MAY LOOK GOOD TO YOU BUT I AM NOT A DESSERT FAN SO I QUICKLY SCAN.

I THOUGHT THESE RECIPES LOOKED INTERESTING:
JALAPENO GUACAMOLE
JALAPENO BOATS
VEGETARIAN ENCHILADAS
LEMON AND PANKO CRUSTED GROUPER
PORT-MARINATED STEAK
GRILLED CHICKEN WITH ROASTED RED PEPPER SAUCE
SEA  SCALLOPS WITH CHIPOTLE MAYONNAISE

FOR ME, THIS IS A GOOD RECIPE BOOK SINCE I FOUND SO MANY RECIPES I WOULD LIKE TO TRY.  I GOT IT AS A FREE KINDLE BOOK AS WELL!

WHAT THE PUBLISHER HAS TO SAY:

When it comes to healthy cooking, a common misconception is that it takes too long. On those nights when takeout sounds tempting, turn to this cookbook. This collection of 70 delicious recipes will help you create a nutritious meal from scratch in no time. Each recipe meets at least one of these two criteria:It requires five ingredients or fewer (excluding water, cooking spray, salt, pepper, garnishes, and optional ingredients);OR

It can be prepared in 15 minutes or less

And some of the recipes fall under both.

What’s more, I will show you that good-for-you ingredients don’t have to be pricey. The recipes are simply somewhere to start. Follow them as they are, or substitute shrimp when one calls for scallops, even chicken instead of pork. Use what’s in your pantry, and I will help you get dinner on the table in minutes.

Perfect for the family or casual, impromptu get-togethers with friends, all of the ideas in this cookbook are shorter, quicker, and faster so you can serve a smart and fabulous dinner any night of the week.

With recipes for soups, sandwiches, salads, meatless main dishes, fish, meats, and poultry, this cookbook simply makes healthy taste great.

I hope you enjoy my recipes!
