LOVE IN BLOOM

LOVE IN BLOOM

UNFORTUNATELY, I AM NOT A FAN OF ROMANCES.  I THOUGHT THIS ONE MIGHT HAVE A LITTLE SUBSTANCE  BUT THERE WAS MORE TALK OF CLAY’S CHISELED, TAN BODY THAN HIS COMING TO TERMS WITH HIS ACCIDENT AND SUBSEQUENT MEMORY LOSS.  I HAVE ENJOYED MANY A NICHOLAS SPARKS NOVEL BUT THIS COULD NOT CONTEND.  AT LEAST IT WAS A VERY QUICK AND EASY READ WITH LITTLE PLOT TO THINK ABOUT.

PUBLISHER’S SYNOPSIS:

Dr. Paige Conrad needs Clay Reynolds’ help. However, he can’t give it because she and the rest of the town of Langley, Maryland, might discover his secret. Clay has no memory of the first twenty-five years of his life. The past and his father’s rejection is behind him. Digging it up brings back nightmare he has fought for ten years to control.
After spending three years in underdeveloped countries following her parents’ vision of healing, Paige has come to Langley to gain perspective on her life and help an old friend with his medical practice. Learning Clay was involved in a rock climbing accident and went through the rehabilitation process, she wants him to share his experience with a trouble teenager to give the boy hope.
Paige and Clay are inexorably drawn to each other. But can Clay trust Paige and share his secret? Can Paige dare to follow her own dreams.
Love In Bloom was first published with Meteor/Kismet.

THE HOSTAGE

THA HOSTAGE

A FAST PACED THRILLER.  I’M NOT SURE HOW SARAH ALWAYS SEEMS TO ESCAPE ONLY TO BE THROWN INTO A NEW SITUATION!  THE BOOK WAS A GOOD READ BUT IT DIDN’T REALLY GRAB ME ENOUGH TO WANT TO READ ANOTHER IN THE SERIES.

PUBLISHER’S WORDS:

Meet Elmore Ackerman. He idolizes Sarah Roberts from afar, and has done so for more than five years. He has studied her pictures, memorized her news clippings and now waits in the dark for the day when he can make Sarah his hostage.
A steel cage waits for Sarah, where Elmore has practiced what he will do to her. The other girls he has practiced with now lay discarded, buried about his property. He keeps their fingernails and toenails to roll between his teeth, to savor their strength, to feel the nails weaken and give in, just as his victims do.
Elmore has a plan for Sarah, and she walks right into his trap.
Sarah Roberts is his hostage and no one knows where they are.
In Sarah Roberts Book Four, The Hostage, Sarah is in a fight not just for her freedom, but also her life.

THE CURTAIN

THE CURTAIN

THIS WAS A GREAT READ THAT REALLY MAKES YOU THINK.  IT IS ALL ABOUT HOW SOCIAL MEDIA IS COLLECTING DATA FROM US WITH EVERY CLICK WE MAKE AND HOW THEY USE THAT DATA FOR THEIR OWN PROFIT.  THE POWER OF THIS DATA IS ASTRONOMICAL TO THE POINT OF DESTROYING SOCIETY!  THE END LEAVES YOU HANGING BUT IN A GOOD WAY – PERHAPS ANOTHER NOVEL WILL FOLLOW!

NOVEL SYNOPSIS:

Have you met Henry Maddox? He knows you — not personally of course… he really only knows your data. But from that data he actually may know you better than you think you know yourself. Henry knows where you’ve been and what you’ve bought. He knows all of your friends. Henry not only knows your behaviors, he understands your tendencies. And from those tendencies, he can predict what you’re going to do before you’ve actually done it.

Who is Henry Maddox? He is a 21st century marketing consultant and he specializes in highly personal and irresistibly persuasive advertising.

Henry’s strategies combine modern data mining (Big Data) techniques with other advanced and controversial marketing practices (Market Fragmentation, Cross Promotion, and Conglomerate Propagandizing) to the point where consumers don’t even know they are being sold. Businesses love Henry because he not only moves product, he actually controls their customers.

But when Henry is forced to face how his techniques affect real people, he realizes he has inadvertently given corporations the power to destroy society for their own ends.

THE CURTAIN explores the effect that increasingly sophisticated marketing techniques have on communities, families, and individuals. In an age of digital distractions, who remembers the transcendent morality that has allowed past civilizations to prosper? When corporations have the influence and motive to define people by what they consume, are we as individuals losing the substance of who we really are?

THE CURTAIN is entertaining, fun, thought provoking, educational, and frightening. Ord’s storytelling is brilliant and his research extraordinary. THE CURTAIN is a must read for anyone that watches television or movies, listens to the radio, accesses the internet, logs into social media, has a smart phone, participates in loyalty card programs, or uses GPS technology. In short, THE CURTAIN is for everyone.
